EcoStep Foundation is dedicated to support sustainable products by providing a globally open digital identity solution.

This coffee is advertised as being produced biologically and fairly… how can you know it really is?

This flask is nice and clean to look at. Unpacked it does not reveal what it is made of or where it was produced. Could a unique product identifier on the product help to uncover its environmental secret?

These barcodes on an HP toner cartridge are useful to track the product within the supply chain of the manufacturer.
They lose their usefulness, when crossing the chasm to the consumer. Besides that they usually track the product, but not the individual product item.

With this sticker “authenticity” of the product can be verified. A product / serial number seems to be part of the verification process. Unfortunately it is a proprietary solution.
We are driven to change lives for the better and we do that by opening up environmental impact data to the public, to science and to all other interested parties. This necessitates closer collaboration between all stakeholders along the product lifecycle.

Foundation
We started a foundation to act as a hub and community space for companies and individuals supporting the open information exchange on the impact products have on our environment. We like to break information silos and give access to essential environmental data to all parties interested (companies, regulators, science and the public).
Help us democratize the ecological data space by supporting our foundation today.
